Ways to make the most of the summer holidays

It’s that time of year again where the kids (and hardworking teachers) get a whole six weeks off from school and us parents must find things to do to fill the time so that the holidays don’t drag. Luckily there are better ways to make the most of your holiday than staying at home watching TV or playing computer games. Here are some brilliant ideas that will turn your summer break from drab to fab!

Spend quality time with your family and friends

The best way to make the most out of this summer holiday is to spend quality time with your family and friends. Summer is the best time to ‘make memories’ that will last a lifetime. During the summer the days are longer, and this allows more time to be outdoors either at the zoo, the park or simply playing ball in the garden.

Baking with Forever Bee Honey

Baking is the perfect way to keep your children busy during the summer holidays and we have plenty of recipes you can pull together using Forever Bee Honey. These include Rocky Road Bites, Banana Nut Crunch, Nutty Cookies and Pancakes. Honey is also a great substitute for sugar in most baking recipes.

Go to the beach

Make the most of the sunny weather in the UK and entertain your kids by taking a fun trip to the beach. With more than 200 beaches in United Kingdom alone, you’ll be sure to live within driving distance of at least one! Bournemouth beach has been voted the UK's best beach for 2018 and if you want to visit the UK's longest beach, head to Chesil beach in Dorset. Just don’t forget the all-important sun cream and bucket and spade!

Get crafty with recyclable packaging

If you’re planning on staying indoors this summer, arts and crafts are a great way to inspire your kids and let them go wild. Once you’ve finished drinking our nutritious Forever Aloe Vera Gel, turn the 100% recyclable packaging into whatever you want! From a car to a bird feeder, the list is endless!

Be a tourist in your hometown

Pretending to be a tourist in your own town is a great way to see where you live in a new light. There is sure to be plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to keep the kids entertained like farms, museums and playgrounds, or if you live close to nature go to the woods and create little dens from trees and branches or find some green space to explore by foot or bicycle.

Make use of free activities in your local community

Your local church, library or children’s centre is sure to put on classes and activities where children can have fun with kids their own age and the best part is, often these events are FREE! To find local things going on near you, post in local Facebook groups, ask your friends or search ‘things to do’ on Google.

Go fruit picking

With hundreds of pick-your-own farms across the UK, you’re guaranteed to find a farm near you for the whole family to enjoy. August is a particularly great time to hit the berry farms and go fruit picking for strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, and blackberries. You could even turn your fruit into a delicious cake when you get home!
