Lashmi had the opportunity to sign up for Forever four years earlier than she did, but the timing just wasn’t right. It wasn’t until August 2015, after making a life-changing decision, that Forever came into her life…
For the last thirteen years I’ve worked as a primary school teacher, but during my career I sadly lost my dad, then, eighteen months later, I also lost my mum to an aggressive form of cancer. It was one of the most difficult times of my life. Losing my parents but being blessed with my two boys, who are now thirteen and nine, took me on an emotional journey of highs and lows.
Without realising, I became depressed and very sad. This was due to working full-time which meant I was only seeing my children for twenty minutes a day. I was also not allowing myself the time to grieve for the loss of my parents.
It wasn’t until I became ill and ended up in hospital with the possibility of a brain tumour that I realised I was depressed, and due to the risk of infection my children were not allowed to visit me. Therefore my health deteriorated and I fell into an even deeper depression.
After undergoing many tests it was thankfully confirmed that I didn’t have a tumour, but spending ten whole days in hospital without being able to see my children gave me the time to reflect upon my life. I decided to go part-time so I could spend more time with my family and very shortly after this I was approached once again by my friend (and now sponsor) about the Forever opportunity.
It was a light bulb moment and I decided to sign up as my husband and I could see how it could give us what we had been searching for: more time with our children and financial support.
From a personal development point of view, Forever has encouraged me to do things I thought I would never be able to do. It has helped me to grow as a person, it’s built my self-esteem, I’ve learnt new skills and most importantly, I have had to work on my mindset. During the last seven months Forever has given me more than I could have ever imagined; my life has changed for the better and I’m a happier mum for my boys. I couldn't have done it all without the support of my husband Mukesh; he truly has been my rock and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us!
