Forever Summer of Care

Summer on its way, and although the weather can sometimes be unpredictable, it is really important to make sure you are looking after your skin whilst you are enjoying the sunshine. Jeannie McGinnis, Forever's Beauty and Skincare Trainer, and dedicated Skincare Advocate has been sharing her tips for protecting, soothing and calming, hydration in the summer months.

This summer, we may not be escaping to the tropical holiday that we all are dreaming of these days. We can, however, get out and about in the sun and enjoy all its benefits: including boosting your mood, getting your vitamin D and experiencing more of nature. Let’s see it as a summer of self-care, where we take time to appreciate the outdoors around us; whether it’s a local park or beach, a walk in the countryside or just simply time out in the garden. Whilst we all need a change of pace from our day to day lives, it is really important to make sure that we are proactive with our skincare, so we can keep it healthy and glowing and protect it from too much UVA and UVB exposure.

What does it mean to have too much sun exposure?

UVA and UVB rays from the sun can be tolerated to a point, depending on your skin colour. However, too much exposure of these rays can lead to premature signs of ageing or even cancerous cells. Looking after for your skin is one of the easiest ways to promote self-care over the long run.

The US National Library of Medicine states that ‘clinical signs of ageing are essentially influenced by extrinsic factors, especially sun exposure. Indeed, UV exposure seems to be responsible for 80% of visible facial ageing signs.’ UVB rays cause damage in the top layers of your skin, causing it to burn. UVA rays are more prevalent and can also penetrate clouds or windows. These rays cause stress in the middle layer of the skin, which leads to premature ageing signs such as wrinkles, fine lines, dryness and pigmentation.

So, whether it is protecting, soothing and calming, or replacing lost moisture and hydration in the summer months, Forever has a many products to help you care for the whole family’s skin.

Protection:

Protecting Day Lotion is a natural mineral sunscreen, containing over twenty skin-conditioning ingredients and broad-spectrum SPF 20 to help provide daily protection against harmful UV rays.  It contains powerful botanicals that deliver moisture; such as the crambe plant, which is native to the Mediterranean and has powerful natural skin-enhancing properties, as well as being high in fatty acids to improve appearance of tone and texture. It also contains the Jerusalem resurrection plant, which has an ability to survive periods of dry climates and, within hours, resurrect itself with hydration. Apply under make-up or before going out on errands.

Aloe Sunscreen lets you soak in the sun without harmful rays wreaking havoc on your skin. SPF 30 offers protection from UVA and UVB rays to soothe, moisturise and protect while you are outdoors.  Water resistant and non-nanosized, this sunscreen is coral reef safe with its natural zinc oxide sunscreen. It offers superior protection and extra skin-shielding power with added vitamin E and a high concentration of aloe.  Apply liberally to each area of the body every two hours and more frequently if exposed to water or sweat.

Soothing and calming:

Aloe Vera Gelly is essentially identical to the aloe vera’s inner leaf gel, which is easily absorbed into the skin. Aloe Vera Gelly soothes skin, calms , and lubricates sensitive tissue safely.  Perfect for any skin type, it absorbs readily into skin to soothe skin while moisturising and conditioning, an ideal companion for any first aid kit.

The soothing formula of Aloe First, with aloe vera and bee propolis, takes the power of aloe and adds further skin conditioning botanicals.  This convenient spray soothes and provides a great barrier between your hair and the elements, whilst offering extra moisture in a pH-balancing mist for sensitive skin.  This versatile spray allows you to experience the fast-acting soothing power of aloe vera when you need it!

Restoring what was lost

Aloe Bio-Cellulose Mask is super-hydrating formula which combines the power of aloe with seagrass, horse chestnut, green tea extract and coconut.  The fibres are 1,000x thinner than human hair and are moisture retentive, allowing the mask to fit tightly to the contours of your face and reach fine lines and wrinkles more effectively.

The Aloe Bio-Cellulose Mask also requires no rinsing; simply massage the remaining serum into your face and neck, you'll feel the powerful hydration much longer after use.

Every part is 100% compostable, and it is compatible with all skin types.  On a warm day, put it in the fridge prior to application for a refreshing effect.  My teen daughter and I love to use this as a home spa day treat about once a week.

Forever’s new Hydrating Serum boosts hydration with FOUR types of hyaluronic acid which help to seal moisture in and take hydration to deeper layers in the skin.  It helps to shield against environment stressors and absorbs quickly into the skin with botanicals and plant fatty acids.  Pair it up, and apply after cleansing but before your favourite Forever moisturisers to boost its efficacy. Or even use it prior to applying make-up later in the day. I’ve been using it twice daily to help normalise my skin that has gotten a bit dry over the last few months.  It’s definitely one of my new go to products.

Add a Smoothing Exfoliator or Aloe Scrub before a fake tan and top it off with one of your favourite body moisturisers like Aloe Propolis Creme.  These all complement your skin care regime of Sonya Daily Gel System for oily and combination skin, and Infinite by Forever Advanced Skincare System for dry and maturing skin two times a day to help cleanse and nourish.
