Hands up if you’ve missed international travel! Us, too. In fact, international travel is one of the cornerstones of our business, as Forever usually holds events all over the world several times a year for those who qualify, and we definitely can’t wait to get back to that!
But not to worry in the meantime. While we’re not always so lucky in the UK and Ireland with the weather, there are definitely places to add to your staycation bucket list, and this year looks to be the perfect time to start crossing those places off your list! Take a look at our recommendations.
If you want a beautiful beach…
The UK coast doesn’t get much more beautiful than Cornwall! We’re specifically imagining taking in the sights of Durdle Door, a landmark where the sandy beach and stunning waters could easily be mistaken for a Mediterranean paradise on a hot summer’s day! Or, at the opposite end of the UK, Camusdarach beach in Scotland has soft, white sandy beaches and truly gorgeous views off the coast.
In Ireland, get yourself down to the Dingle Peninsula! Not only are you surrounded by beautiful green valleys, but there are some gorgeous sandy beaches and a truly striking coastline to take in! Coumeenole is a particularly stunning beach, tucked under high cliffs and experiencing the gorgeous sound of crashing waves! Time to grab those swimming trunks!
Looking for culture?
Whether or not you love the 1997 movie Titanic, the Titanic Belfast is an absolute must-see for the true story of the RMS Titanic’s infamous maiden voyage. The building itself is impressive, designed to replicate four high pointed hulls, the same height as the ship. Or if you prefer going further back in history, why not visit some of the incredible castles in the country. From the pristine Blarney Castle, County Cork to the ruins of Dunluce Castle, County Atrim, there’s plenty of culture to soak up!
Speaking of castles, the UK has plenty of them, too! We can personally recommend Warwick Castle, just a few minutes from our UK Head Office Longbridge Manor, but there are so many dotted around the country! Or visit one of the many museums dedicated to different parts of history throughout the UK, many of them ideal for children! The Black Country Living Museum is designed to be totally immersive, with live actors telling the story of one of the very first industrialised landscapes in Britain.
Who doesn’t love great food on holiday?
Edinburgh, Scotland usually attracts foodies from around the world, but with travel restrictions still in place we have the goodies all to ourselves for a while! Be sure not to leave without trying Scotland’s national food, Haggis, and if you’ve got a sweet tooth, definitely add the Shortbread House of Edinburgh to your itinerary! There’s nothing like a city for the best food, and Dublin, Ireland certainly has plenty of treats in store! There are plenty of fantastic restaurants and pubs to enjoy the city’s culinary delights, but we’d be remiss to bring up Dublin without mentioning that it is of course the home of the Guinness Storehouse…
Got your walking boots at the ready?
Experience the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ on the Cuilcagh Boardwalk trail, an 11km hike with some absolutely breath-taking views all the way along! It’s a pretty steep walk, with an average hike time of 2-3 hours, but it’ll be worth it, we promise!
In the UK, head to the Lake District for some truly stunning views and plenty of routes to keep you busy for a whole week!
Are you an adventure seeker?
Perhaps you could get stuck into all the activities in Snowdonia, Wales. Not can you take it the sights of this 823 square mile national park and walk to the top of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales and England, but there are also plenty of activities for thrill-seekers! From trampolining in caves underground to quarry karting down the mountains, you’ll be sure to have the trip of a lifetime!
Why not try your hand at sea kayaking along the Copper Coast in Waterford, Ireland? Get up close and personal with seals, dolphins and birds and experience the picturesque setting of rocks, arches and caverns along the coastline, all while you kayak in the choppy sea waters! It’ll be one to write home about, that’s for sure.
